Also, if you are in the market for a Rock And Roll Radio T-shirt and you live in Montreal or NYC put in your order now! I would also like to extend a warm welcome to the new Rock And Roll Radio Interns Nick and Ayomide, who will be working on a variety of R&D related tasks.

Dear Listeners,

Underwater Sunday service
The boss' daughter, Monday nervous
Crawfish, lobster, giant squid
Mermaid, monster, science kid

This is Rock And Roll Radio.

There's no two ways about it, last night's show was an historic radio broadcasting event. DUB FROM THE TUB featured DJ Scurvy, DJ Pirate's Booty and First Mate Haley at the controls in the studio, while I moved the Office of the Rock And Roll Doctor to the bathtub down the hall. Broadcasting live from the tub!

It was a rather epic logistical feat, and there were a number of technical issues (mic level problems) along the way, but essentially the show was a great success. Following a media blitz of DUB IN THE TUB promotion it is possible that dozens (if not hundreds) of listeners tuned in live from their own tubs around the world. Thank you to everyone who participated.

And, just in case you are thinking to yourself - "Two hours of dub? That's a lot."  The rigorous musical standards of Rock And Roll Radio were not compromised in any way for this admittedly gimmicky premise. Now that I think of if, not that much dub even made it on in the end. The important thing is that dub rhymes with tub.

Highlights from the show include:
Bobby Darrin - Splish Splash
Phil Phillips - Sea of Love
Howlin' Wolf - I Asked Her For Water (She Brought Me Gasoline)
Frankie Ford - Sea Cruise
Kinks - Holiday in Wakiki
Eugene Church - Girls Everywhere
Lee Rogers - Troubles
Eugene Church - Taboo Man
Buddy Lucas - Bo Lee
Otis Redding - Just One More Day
The Cricketts - Surfin' Special
Eugene Church - Sixteen Tons
The Chantays - Pipeline
Dick Nolan - Fisherman's Boy
The Congos - Fisherman
Walley Lewis - White Bobby Socks

And many more!

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Dr. Rocker

In other exciting news, we have a very special event coming up next show, Thursday November 25th. DUB FROM THE TUB is happening! It's a radio happening, to be specific. What is this thing? It is just as it sounds. I will be broadcasting live form the bathtub down the hall of the studio. Haley, Liz and Deanna will be spinning the wax and "manning" the board. A once in a life time event. A story to tell the grandchildren.

"How can I be a part of this incredible event?" Great question, it's easy. Book off the hours between midnight and to 2 AM this Thursday. Run yourself a hot bath and turn up the volume. You can find it at CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto or stream it online at http://www.ciut.fm/index.php/about/listen-live/.  If you are planning on listening live in the tub, please RSVP, or even better, call in live to the studio: 416-946-7000. Please be aware of the hazards related to using electronic devices in close proximity to the tub.

There will be dub, but if dub music isn't your bag don't fear, we'll be playing anything and everything with an aquatic or nautical flavour. DUB IN THE TUB: under the radar and beyond the call of duty.

Last night's show was the bi-annual CIUT funding drive show. On the downside, I had to spend a fair bit of time trying to convince people to send in their money. On the upside, the redemptive aspects of music prevailed. Please feel free to fast-forward the live pitching stuff while listening. There is good music to be heard!

If you are out there and listening to the show (and have some disposable income), please do not hesitate to make a tax-deductible donation to CIUT FM. Your dollars make Rock and Roll Radio happen, and I am ever grateful. There are lots and lots of prizes to be had including a pair of round trip tickets to Jamaica. What better way to celebrate your love for the show? It is easy, safe and fun to donate to CIUT FM 89.5.

Dear Listeners,

Little Egypt and Pocahontas
Postrapedic, orthodontist
Contra-neutralist interrogation
Boston tourist information

A place in time
A lasting pleasure
A perfect line
An equal measure

This is Rock And Roll Radio.

Well folks, last Tuesday's show was a mixed bag. Hour 1 featured mostly more samples from my collection of Jamaica-oriented recently acquired vinyl.

No freak of the week this time around, but in place of that we had a battle of the bands between the early Beatles and the Chuck Berry discography. Place your bets!

The Beatles played with a lot of heart, and had a great first period. No doubt a strong team by any standard. The records, however, were stacked four to one in favour of Chuck Berry. (I brought four Chuck Berry records and only one Beatles one). Given that unfair advantage, the Beatles held up remarkably well, and with equal amounts of materials in the studio it could have been anyone's game. In the end, Chuck Berry closed out the show with a barrage of hits, B-sides, up-tempo numbers and strange ballads.

Highlights include:

Hour 1
Dotty And Bonny - Tears Are Falling
Dotty And Bonny - Dearest
The Dynamics - Let's Pick Up Where We Left Off
Winston Wright And The Undergrounds - Night Sin
John Holt - Stick By Me
Granville Williams Orchestra - More
Teenage Head - Picture My Face
Casey And The Rockers - Mystery Girl
Ruddy Thomas - Memories By The Score

Hour 2
The Beatles - Long Tail Sally (the album)
VS.
Chuck Berry - Chuck Berry's Golden Decade Vol. 2
                     - The Great Twenty-Eight

Download it Here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M6KGSAAA

Also in the news, I just printed a bunch more small and medium sized Rock And Roll Radio t-shirts. Larges ones soon to come. These are the traditional version: Black cotton t-shirts with white stenciled lettering over top. These shirts are personally pre-shrunk, hand-printed and quality-assured by yours truly. See images below. A steal at $15.00 a pop. Buy a piece of history; buy Rock And Roll Radio.

That's all!

Sincerely,
Dr. Rocker

This week’s episode of Rock And Roll Radio can be downloaded here:

http://www.ciut.fm/index.php/shows-2/rock-and-roll-radio/

I will be away from my desk for the next 5 shows on a trip out west. I am not sure who the fill-in host will be, but rest assured Rock And Roll Radio as you know it will be back, probably for July 15th. If you are looking for new old music in the meantime, I recommend a series of mix tapes by Mississippi Records. You can find the download links for the original mix tapes here.

This stuff is pretty damn good, free and there is lots and lots of it.

Best Regards,
The Rock and Roll Doctor

http://rapidshare.com/files/393068500/052810_000022.MP3

A few minor technical notes.

The live FM radio broadcast cut out unexpectedly for the last hour and a half of the show on Thursday night due to maintenance work on the transmitter. So, if you tuned in live and just couldn’t find the show - that is the reason. I was a little thrown off myself, so you’ll notice the teching was less than perfect this week.

The streaming and mp3 versions of the show are not the best sound quality, a little distorted on the high end. You are not imagining it. If you want the full analog experience you’ve got to listen the old fashioned way with a radio receiver.

Technically and sonically yours,
Dr. Rocker
