Dear Listeners,

What at thing it is to sit down and try to convey one's experiences with a word here, a thought there, a string of poorly conceived notions tied to a bunch of hazy impressions. What a hoax it is, this thing that so often passes for correspondence!

At times I think it would almost be better to abandon the act of writing entirely. How liberating it would be to never pick up another pen! If you were not there to receive my letters, I am quite sure I would never write another line.

If only you knew how strong my desire was to do away with the trivialities and meaningless conventions of the written word. I cannot tell you how disappointing it is to see one's lines on the page, and to know how they pale in comparison to the sentiments and experiences that inspired them. Alas!

A day late and a dollar short, I send you my best wishes and warmest personal regards.
